The Division of Perceptual Studies (DOPS) is a research unit within the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia Health System. The research faculty of the Division are known internationally for their expertise and research integrity in the investigation of phenomena relevant to the nature of consciousness and its relationship to the physical world.

Dr. Bruce Greyson, a faculty member at the UVA Division of Perceptual Studies, presents his research on near-death experiences in the second half of this video. Prior to Dr. Greyson's presentation, we hear author Jeff Olsen describing his own personal and profound near-death experience.
In this video, Dr. Jim Tucker, author of 'Return to Life' and 'Life Before Life', and director of the UVA The Division of Perceptual Studies, presents his research regarding small children who remember details of a previous life. He also offers some history about the founding of the Division of Perceptual Studies at UVA by Dr. Ian Stevenson.
"Consciousness is More than a Product of Brain Activity"- a lecture presented by Dr. Edward F. Kelly author/editor of 'Irreducible Mind' and 'Beyond Physicalism', and director of the Ray Westphal neuro-imaging lab at UVA DOPS. In this video, Dr. Kelly presents his research and ideas regarding the nature of mind and brain, as well as the overall implications of shifting the current scientific paradigm beyond the limitations of mainstream material science.
In this video, Dr. Kim Penberthy, Chester F. Carlson Professor of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences, and the newest member of the research faculty at the UVA Division of Perceptual Studies, presents her research into mindfulness and altered states.
"Do We Survive Death? A Look at the Evidence"-a special public lecture event presented by UVA Division of Perceptual Studies faculty.
This video contains a 2 hour 30 minute segment of the special public lecture event that took place at the Science Museum of Boston, September 17th, 2016. The UVA DOPS faculty gathered in Boston to offer lectures about their research. This event was sponsored by Tracy Coen.
In this video, UVA DOPS advisory board member Patrick Belisle, is acting as the moderator for the duration of the event. Our sponsor Tracy Coen, as well as near-death experiencer Jeff Olsen, are also featured in the video before the lecturers begin their presentations.
The DOPS researchers in order of appearance are as follows: Dr. Bruce Greyson; Dr. Jim Tucker; Dr. Kim Penberthy; and Dr. Ed Kelly. There is a panel discussion at the end in which the researchers address questions posed by the audience members.
